Police warn Business to watch for email, invoice scams.

Businesses have been warned of an internet email scam which has seen fraudsters steal €650,000 from two commercial companies recently.

They were settling what looked like legitimate invoices from real suppliers. One company lost €200,000 and the other €453,000, gardaí said on Monday.
 

The criminals send emails to businesses and individuals from whats looks like the real supplier. The emails request firm to change the bank account details on record for the supplier to a new bank account, controlled by the criminals.

German mega Insurer Allianz, says their customers are more concerned about a mega IT failure such as a cyber-breach is a greater concern to them than Fire, Theft, Flood. Especially as people can reduce their basic risk by as much as 95% with some simple steps like staff training, low-cost cyber protection and common sense.

Former Metropolitan Police Commissioner, Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe really annoyed

Prime Minister, Theresa May, when she was Home Secretary. She agreed with his stance on cybercrime, but not the way he went about it. He suggested Police would be slow to investigate online security crimes where the individuals failed to take online protection seriously especially having an 'upto date' antivirus. He openly backed banks, credit card providers doing the same, not refunding customers losses. She disliked the way he went about it, she's not so so keen on the other guy in the photo below either.
